
In the afternoon today, Beecher City High School students completed various service projects at the high school, grade school, and in the community. In picture 1, students lead by Dave Northway are helping clean classroom desks and tables. Picture 2 is of part of Mrs. Doedtman's landscape remodel crew. The students in pictures 3 helped clear brush on the east side of the high school (students were not allowed to operate chainsaws). Picture 4 shows the crew that helped Jason Herrmann dig out and repair a water hydrant at the HS baseball diamond.

Today, Beecher City Jr/Sr High school students participated in reward and recovery activities in the morning. One of the high school reward activities was to go hiking at Ballard Nature Center in Altamont. Students and teachers had a wonderful time enjoying the wonderful fall weather!

Mrs. Hicks and Mrs. Tirevold took a group of BCHS art students to First State Bank of Beecher City and Rhodes Automotive to decorate their windows with Christmas paintings. Thank you for sharing your talents and spreading some holiday cheer!




Several classes from the Grade School visited the Little Theatre on the Square today. We enjoyed the play "Frog and Toad". Thanks to the Ruritans for covering the cost of the tickets!



Marine Sgt. Chad Reed spoke to the Fourth and Fifth Grade Classes about his time in the service. Thank You to all Veterans!





Mrs. Jo Lagerhausen volunteered to take girls from the freshman class to attend 'Expanding Your Horizons' workshop at Southern Illinois University - Carbondale. The workshop focused on introducing girls to STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) concepts. The girls had a fantastic time and thank you to Mrs. Lagerhausen for making this opportunity available for our students!





Parent/teacher conferences at Beecher City Jr/Sr High School will be Monday, November 7, and Wednesday, November 9, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Parents and guardians do not need to make appointments. If a parent or guardian wishes to meet with a teacher at a specific time, they can call the high school office or contact the teacher directly through the teacher's school email.

CHBC's Gracie Heckert officially signed her letter of intent to play college basketball for the Parkland College Cobras in Champaign, IL. Congratulations Gracie on this fantastic achievement! All the best to the CHBC Girls Basketball Team as they prepare to open their season on November 14th against South Central at Cowden-Herrick High School.

Spanish 2 students have been working hard on their Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) shoebox "ofrenda" projects. Some even made and brought in the traditional "pan de muerto" (bread of the dead). ¡Fantástico!

Mr. Friese was the guest reader in First Grade today. After the story, they worked on graphing and sentence writing, while the Fifth Grade Class searched for clues to solve the riddle.





Congratulations to Gracie Heckert for receiving the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Award! This distinguished honor is based on the recipient possessing the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. Well done, Gracie!


The senior class of 2023 were the winners of the Creepiest Door contest during Red Ribbon Week. They won 2 bags of candy and were presented with the inaugural "Creepiest" plaque. Well done seniors!
