Small Businesses have taken a hit this year due to COVID and Effingham County CEO wanted to do something to help combat that. We don't know if shopping locally is something you ever do, but if there was ever a time to do it, it's certainly now. This year's Effingham County CEO class is selling gift boxes full of only Effingham County goods and services. Effingham County is a community full of entrepreneurs and small businesses that many have never even heard of, so we really wanted to highlight them! These Boxes would make the perfect gift for that loved one that you maybe aren't quite sure what to get! We are selling 3 different themed boxes: The Good Vibes Box (Perfect for the loved one you think needs a day off for some relaxation), The Grill Masters Box (Perfect for the man or woman in your life that wants the best grilling skills/taste in all of Effingham County), and The Night In Box (perfect for that family or person who just needs some relaxed fun and personal time)! Our Boxes will go on sale this Friday, November 20th @ 3:00 p.m. on the website that will be located in our Facebook and Instagram page bios (for both just search Effingham County CEO). The box's products will not be directly revealed, because we want some of it to be a surprise, but the businesses contributing to the box will be disclosed in the description. The boxes are all priced at $60, and 20% of the profits will be going to a local charity! On our website, it will give you the option to pick up or have it shipped. We recommend pickup, which will be the weekend of December 12th in Effingham (more exact details to come soon). Our Boxes will be sold in limited quantities so please act fast if this is something you are interested in! There will also be a live interview with us on the drive home today (Wednesday, November 18th) @ 4:30 if you'd like to listen for any additional information! We hope this encourages you to support your local shops, because shopping locally for Christmas is something more of us should do! Feel free to please forward this text and flyer to any friends, family, etc that you think would be interested! These boxes are a one time opportunity! Happy Holidays!

Mrs. Baker was nominated for the Wall of Fame by Mrs. Burks. Congratulations Mrs. Baker!!
The year was 1988, and I was in seventh grade. I was turned around talking to another student, when I was told that I would be spending lunch in the office, since I couldn’t quit talking during class. Thus began my relationship with Mrs. Baker. A relationship that I have treasured ever since.
Mrs. Baker worked for the Beecher City School District as a teacher for 37 years. She is still working for the district as a substitute teacher and helping with computer programs. She worked outside the classroom as the junior high cheerleading sponsor, the yearbook sponsor, the head teacher at the high school, the concession manager, the sponsor of the ECO Meet and Envirothon teams, and the senior sponsor for numerous trips. She coached volleyball and softball. She took tickets and covered games in the high school gym. In other words, she helped out whenever and wherever she could.
For many of us, she is an inspiration and a positive role model. She inspired me to be a teacher. I wanted to be just like her. I wanted to teach, to laugh, and to interact with students in a positive way just like she did. I am not going to lie. Science was not my favorite class in high school. Who likes dissecting baby pigs? That is gross. But I did love Mrs. Baker’s classes. She made science fun and interesting. She made sure her students knew she cared about what was going on in their lives by asking questions and listening to answers. She had a positive impact on her students, and that’s what makes her a great teacher.
When I first started working at Beecher City, she was one of the teachers I counted on for advice. She was a mentor to many teachers, and she truly cared about what was happening in our classrooms. She didn’t mind being interrupted to help someone else. She knew she was investing in the future of our school.
Now that she has retired, I look forward to her visits at school. I don’t even mind the texts saying she is still in her pajamas and drinking coffee, while I have been at work for two hours. I look forward to a smile and a hug and talking about her grandkids. She went from being my teacher, to an inspiration, to a mentor, and finally to a friend. I am nominating Mrs. Baker for the Wall of Fame. She was and still is a huge part of Beecher City School District.

On Saturday, May 9th, we would like to invite the community to join us in a parade to celebrate the Beecher City Class of 2020!!! The parade will start lining up behind the fire trucks at the Beecher City Foodliner at 2:45 p.m. The route will proceed to the park where the seniors will be waiting. Be creative with decorating your vehicle (or other means of transportation) and make a lot of noise!

Due to school being postponed, the spring play has been canceled.

The school district is closed today, April 10, in observation of Spring Break. You may resume turning in homework packets on Monday, April 13th in the high school lobby.
